the Issue of Focus

Influential educators‘ bias, shaming, and deficit-based thinking practices have immediate and long-term effects on neurodivergent learners during their youth and adulthood. 

The naming process

  • The process of naming my issue of focus began after I learned about my Diversity Awareness Profile (DAP) score. 


  • My interpretation of Stinson’s (2007) definition of the “fighter” mentality made me begin reflecting on the extent to which my social media presence in 2016-2018 influenced my culture
